The movie 'Sunrise' was very interesting to me. Because this movie included basic visual method that many modern movies use in developed way nowadays.
I concentrated on suggestion systems when I am looking the movie 'Sunrise'. When husband take his wife to kill her, their dog conducted like something is going to happen. It was not big effect, but it was sufficient system make audience to feel tension.
Also, I surprised at the movie's editing such as overlap method. In the end of the move, the woman received her husband's forgiveness and they kissed in the places. These scenes showed through overlap images of various places. It was little awkward effects because it was not natural effect in the movie. But I think it was the first challenge in the film world to make movies more impressive to use these effects.
This movie has very simple story. But I think the theme include serious message. The man was living with his wife in the rural place, and he was attracted to one city-woman. The man trived to kill his wife, but he recovered his consciousness and apologize for his big fault to his wife. Actually, the character of man represents human's double sidedness. When he intended to kill his wife, his eyes changed very scared. But when he realized his fault, he returned original his appearance. Through this story, I thought that people can make many mistakes in their daily life, but we can altered our thinking and behavior through mistakes.
Comparing movies between 'The General' and 'Sunrise', 'The General' has humorous system through showing hero's conduction or humorous situation. The movie 'Sunrise' has more dramatic set-up and visual effects compared to 'The Genral'.
