RIFF - Shorts Block 2 - Atlee Watson

Shorts(Rated 1-5):
-Echoes 1
-She is Beautiful 3
-Bon Fire 3
-Stones 2
-Illegal Taxi 5

I know the rating probably isn't necessary, but I thought I would let you know what I thought about the films on a scaled level since I may not discuss each of them individually.

Illegal Taxi was by far the best. It was the best acted, written, directed, and was all of the technical aspects of the short seemed better than the rest. The main character seemed very real and relatable to me. Being a college student I find putting up with crap from strangers in an effort to make ends meet very relatable. The beginning is very comedic with his encounters with various riders, like the woman giving birth or the band who continuously played music without giving him a destination. But the movie turns very dramatic as they introduce this woman who rips him off, giving the audience an understanding of the troubles that come with operating this illegal taxi. Finally, they introduce a police officer in pursuit of criminals who had robbed a bank earlier in the day who were driving the same car as our main character. After VERY odd intimidation/interrogation methods were used on the taxi driver, the man explains that it could not have been him because he saved an elderly woman's life earlier in the day. That woman turns out to be presumably his mother, or at least some type of relative to the police officer, and the man is released. The short gives a very interesting plot of the connectedness of people.

But if I may now rant for a bit, the best person in this film was the man's wife. Her voice acting was amazing. The only time she is on screen she is asleep, which was done well, but her voice when speaking with her husband was remarkable just because it was so soft and caring and completely opposite of the situations going on around him. She was awesome.
