Rear Window- Greg Weinstein

Throughout the movie, the audience, through the eyes of Jimmy Stewart, never left his apartment and the outlying apartment complex environment. Through this view, we can see the other tennants in their windows, with one of the neighbors even playing the piano to write a new song. This one song even affects some of our characters during the course of the movie. For instance, Jeffries' girlfriend comments on its beauty during our first meeting with them where it is said she wants to be with Jeffries permanently. This music plays with the love of our characters, specifically at the end of the movie when Miss Lonelyhearts gets a new moniker of Miss relationship with the musician. These story elements are played out quite interestingly within the movie, as Hitchcock is known for his suspense and, sometimes his horror. The sounds we hear from the song follow at the beginning of the movie and then we hear them at the end, as the movie has climaxed with an attempted murder and a great fall from the building, but it ends with Jeffries' girlfriend in his bed, which solidifies what people do for relationships, as was seen between Jeffries and his woman, and the killer and his wife, although that ended less serenely.

  1. The post really is just scratching the surface, isn't it? You make the connection we expect, but then the commentary doesn't go much further. I'm kind of puzzled by the last couple of sentences.
